Basketball Recap: La Sierra Academy Comes Up Short

La Sierra Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 15th straight loss dating back to last season. They were dealt an 82-12 defeat at the hands of the United Christian Academy Eagles. The Knights lost against the Eagles in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 57-8 score last time.

United Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordin Edwards out in front who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten steals. Natalie Estrada was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 steals.

La Sierra Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for United Christian Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.

La Sierra Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against California Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. La Sierra Academy is facing California Lutheran at the right time seeing as California Lutheran is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for United Christian Academy, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on California School for the Deaf-Riverside at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (United Christian Academy has won ten straight at home dating back to last season, while California School for the Deaf-Riverside won four straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
