Recap: California Condors vs. Santa Fe Chiefs

The California Condors came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Santa Fe 62-34 at home. Given California's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 275th, while Santa Fe is ranked 693rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Chiefs players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emily Collins, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Collins continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Rivera, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.

California pushed their record up to 11-7 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Santa Fe, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. California will take on La Serna at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Santa Fe, they will head out on the road to challenge Whittier Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
