Basketball Recap: Bucktail Comes Up Short

Bucktail was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-37 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Williamsport Mountaineers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bucks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 51-34 back in December of 2024.

Abby Akers continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for South Williamsport, going 11 of 26 en route to 26 points and seven boards. Akers is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Carly Quimby, who posted two points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Bucktail's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for South Williamsport, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-7.

Bucktail will venture away from home to face off against Neumann Regional Academy at 6:00 p.m. on February 4th. As for South Williamsport, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 59-22 win against Montgomery on the 31st.
