Basketball Recap: Monterey Dores vs. Watsonville Wildcatz

If Monterey was riding high fresh off their 64-33 takedown of Everett Alvarez last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Monterey Dores came up short against the Watsonville Wildcatz on Tuesday, falling 55-31. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcatz this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-35 back in January.

Watsonville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Isabella Alvarez out in front who went 9-for-16 to rack up 22 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Stephanie Martinez, who went 5-for-10 en route to 13 points and three steals.

Monterey has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for Watsonville, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-5.

Monterey does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Watsonville, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 41-29 win against Alisal on the 13th.
