Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Sinton walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Cuero Gobblers 45-42. The victory was nothing new for the Pirates as they're now sitting on seven straight.

Mykha Green produced another solid effort rushing for 253 yards and four scores while picking up 9.4 yards per carry. Green is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 124 every time he's taken the field this season. Another back making a difference was Marcos Zapata, who rushed for 80 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sinton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 363 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 243 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Sinton's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out Jaxxon Marie three times. Ace Fuentes was especially locked on to Cuero's QB and sacked him twice.

When it comes to explaining why Cuero lost on Friday, don't look at Marie. Despite the final result, he threw for 414 yards and five TDs while picking up 13.4 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 85 yards on only 12 carries. The Gobblers' leading receiver Walker Dietze was Marie's top target yet again, picking up 268 receiving yards and three scores.

Sinton's record now sits at 13-1. As for Cuero, they moved to 12-2 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Coming up, Sinton will square off against West Orange-Stark at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates will need to watch out since the Mustangs have now posted at least 31 points in their last four contests. Cuero does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
