Baseball Recap: St. Francis' Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lake Country Lutheran, St. Francis was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They blew past the St. Catherine's Angels 12-4. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Mariners as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Jordan Wuerl, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with six stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those six stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jaxan Staszak also deserves some recognition as he scored his first runs of the season.

St. Francis always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Catherine's only posted an OBP of .214.

St. Francis picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 3-10. As for St. Catherine's, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. St. Francis will challenge St. John's Northwestern Military Academy on Thursday. As for St. Catherine's, they will take on Turner at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Trojans' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Angels' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
