Basketball Recap: Carson Takes a Loss

Carson and Verdugo Hills squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Carson had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Dons, falling 66-32. The Colts have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Carson lost, don't look at Danaye (Dee) Lizama (Griego). Despite the final result, she posted seven points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Isra Neal, who had five points and 13 boards.

Verdugo Hills' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kayla Pimentel, who almost dropped a triple-double with 19 points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists. Pimentel also grabbed six steals, which is notable because the Dons are 10-1 when she posts at least five steals, but 8-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Amiyya Castanos, who scored 26 points in addition to six steals and five assists.

Carson's defeat dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Verdugo Hills, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-11.

Carson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Verdugo Hills, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-41 loss against Kennedy on the 14th.
