The matchup between Independence and Highland on Wednesday hardly resembled the 2-1 effort from their previous meeting. The Falcons came out on top against the Scots by a score of 15-12. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 2-1 on Monday.

David Baralt Portillo was excellent, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Gavino Medina, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two RBI, and one double.

Independence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for Independence and bumps their season record up to 6-15. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Highland, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season.

Independence will have a chance to go back-to-back against Highland: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
