Basketball Game Preview: Torres Toros vs. Justin Garza Guardians

The Torres Toros will challenge the Justin Garza Guardians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Torres' favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Justin Garza has been banged up by eight consecutive losses on the road.

Last Tuesday, Torres came up short against Hoover and fell 50-41.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was JLynn Mitchell, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards. What's more, she also racked up five assists, the most she's had since back in December of 2024. Nevaeh Chavez was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Justin Garza beat Madera 43-37 on Tuesday.

Justin Garza's win came from a few key players Torres will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Tyla Maxey, who posted 18 points. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Justin Garza's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lailah Whittle, who scored 11 points.

Torres' loss dropped their record down to 19-9. As for Justin Garza, their victory bumped their record up to 10-16.
