Soccer Game Preview: Ashley vs. Hoggard

The Ashley Screaming Eagle will venture away from home to take on the Hoggard Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ashley is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

Ashley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of North Carolina's top teams: New Hanover, who was ranked 23rd at the time (Ashley was ranked 20th). The Screaming Eagle sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Wildcats on Monday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Luke Tierney and Clark Marriott scored both of Ashley's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 12 goals.

Meanwhile, after a string of 15 wins, Hoggard's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They and Laney finished up their match with a 4-4 draw. The result kept Hoggard happy, as they haven't lost a game since August 16th.

Ashley's win bumped their record up to 14-3-3. Hoggard's draw makes their record 17-1-2 this season.
