Baseball Recap: Elkhart Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mishawaka Marian, Elkhart was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Mishawaka Cavemen. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Elkhart's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Logan Kelly, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Kelly has become a key player for the Lions: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-15 otherwise.

Kelly wasn't the only one making solid contact: Elkhart kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April.

Elkhart's victory bumped their record up to 8-15. As for Mishawaka, they dropped their record down to 14-7 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Elkhart will challenge South Bend Adams at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions will need to watch out since the Eagles have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for Mishawaka, they will take on Northridge at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Cavemen will need to watch out since the Raiders have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
