Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Archbishop Murphy

Archbishop Murphy lost to Burlington-Edison back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Tigers. The game was the first time the Wildcats have beaten the Tigers on their field since May 13, 2023.

Cooper Thompson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Archbishop Murphy's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Zach Boucek, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

The win was the third in a row for Archbishop Murphy, bringing their record up to 8-13-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Burlington-Edison, they moved to 16-5 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.
