Football Recap: Locust Fork Takes a Loss

Locust Fork extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-4. They took a blow against the Pennington Tigers, falling 46-14. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for Pennington, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Pennington's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Connor Timmerman, who threw for 152 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes. Timmerman also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, making six total tackles and defending one pass. 82 of Timmerman's passing yards were hauled in by Aidan McAlpin.

Locust Fork will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Piedmont at 7:00 p.m. on October 3. The Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 10.2 points per game this season, so the Hornets' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Pennington, they will square off against Cleveland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
