Soccer Game Preview: Foothill vs. Brea Olinda

Foothill and Brea Olinda are an even 3-3-4 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Foothill Knights are taking a road trip to face off against the Brea Olinda Wildcats at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

Foothill is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Sonora just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. Neither they nor the Raiders could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for a 3-3 draw. The result (or lack thereof) was the first time the Knights have been dealt a draw since back in December of 2024.

They hit Sonora with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Julienn Chaverst, Melanie Salazar, and Arllene Vite.

Meanwhile, Brea Olinda kept a clean sheet against Sonora on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Raiders 1-0. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 357th, while the Raiders are ranked 55th).

Brea Olinda's win bumped their record up to 8-9-4. With that draw, Foothill's record moves to 7-7-3.

Everything went Foothill's way against Brea Olinda when the teams last played on January 9th, as Foothill made off with a 4-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Foothill since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
