Gatewood and Westfield School are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Gatewood Gators will host the Westfield School Hornets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Gatewood is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Tallulah Falls a 4-0 shutout.

Walker Roberts and Wilson Moore were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Roberts struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Moore didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits Roberts has allowed since back in March of 2024. At the plate, Roberts went 1-for-3 with one home run, while Moore went 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ben Brannen, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Westfield School earned a 3-0 victory over Central Georgia Arts on Friday.

Gatewood took their win against Westfield School in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. Will Gatewood repeat their success, or does Westfield School have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
