Basketball Game Preview: Rock Academy Warriors vs. Kearny Komets

Rock Academy is 0-3 against Kearny since December of 2014 but things could change on Friday. The Rock Academy Warriors will look to defend their home court against the Kearny Komets at 5:30 p.m. Rock Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Kearny will be coming in after a defeat.

Rock Academy took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They came out on top against Pacific Ridge by a score of 39-27.

Among those leading the charge was Thereza Horugavye, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds. Rock Academy is undefeated when Horugavye posts 15 or more points, but 4-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Allison Cassata, who posted nine points.

Kearny played against Lincoln on Thursday and lost via forfeit.

Rock Academy's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-9. As for Kearny, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 13-14 record this season.

Rock Academy was dealt a bruising 47-20 loss at the hands of Kearny when the teams last played back in December of 2023.
