Hoover begins season on top and looking to duplicate previous decade's dominance.

The anticipation for high school football in Alabama is mounting as the season is one week away with games kicking off Aug. 21 around the Yellowhammer State. After winning five state titles in the 2010's decade, Hoover begins the season as the top-ranked team in the state — looking to start the 2020 decade with its first state championship since 2017.

After winning the Class 6A state title last season, Oxford starts the 2020 season as favorites to repeat, ranking second in the state and No. 1 in their classification.

Coming off their first state championship season since 1982, expectations remain high for Thompson (Alabaster) heading into the upcoming season as the Warriors begin the year ranked third in the state.
