Softball Recap: Linn's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Linn waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Montgomery County an 8-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for Linn, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sophia Voss made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over 6.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Warren, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Kenzy Hackmann, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Linn's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Montgomery County, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Linn didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 10-0 victory against South Callaway on the 12th. As for Montgomery County, they will take on Bowling Green at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
