Central Valley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Palmer Tigers 50-20. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Cougars just coasted through the last quarter.
Central Valley was led to victory by Annaka Wood and Bentleigh Dugan. Wood shot 50% from the field on her way to 16 points in addition to six steals and five assists, while Dugan went 5-for-12 to rack up 13 points and five rebounds. Laurel Mann was another key player, putting up seven points and nine boards.
They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Central Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palmer only posted three.
When it comes to explaining why Palmer lost, don't look at Marlea Donahey. Despite the final result, she posted six points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kayden Tyan, who scored five points.
Central Valley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-28 win against Stuart on the 5th.
