Basketball Recap: Freedom Piles Up the Points Against Deer Valley

Freedom was handed a heart-breaking three-point loss in their last matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Deer Valley on Tuesday. The Freedom Falcons breezed by the Deer Valley Wolverines to the tune of 62-18. The Falcons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Eve Monzon was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. She has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ariel De La O, who went 6 of 8 en route to 12 points in addition to six steals and four blocks.

Freedom smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Freedom is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Deer Valley, their defeat was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Coincidentally, Freedom and Deer Valley will both be playing Antioch the next time they take the court. Freedom will host Antioch at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Deer Valley will host them at 6:30 p.m. on January 31st.
