Softball Recap: Laurel Christian Lions vs. Newton County Academy Generals
Laurel Christian put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against the Newton County Academy Generals by a score of 8-3. The Lions have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Generals, too.

Leyla Rigby made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Risher, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September of 2024. Bella Horn was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Laurel Christian's victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
