Softball Recap: Mountain View Comes Up Short

Mountain View extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-9-1. They lost 16-0 to the Wellington Eagles. If the Mountain Lions were looking for revenge after losing 16-1 to the Eagles when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Wellington, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-2. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Wellington's part, Kensley Story made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Story posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in October of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, earning three runs and two stolen bases. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Taylor Morgan, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in October of 2024. Reganne Johnson was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Coincidentally, Mountain View and Wellington will both be playing Greeley Central the next time they take the field. The Eagles will host the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Mountain Lions will host them at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
