Soccer Game Preview: Western Christian vs. Pacifica Christian

The Western Christian Fighting Lancers will venture away from home to square off against the Pacifica Christian Tritons at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Western Christian will be strutting in after a win while Pacifica Christian will be coming in after a defeat.

Western Christian will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal last Thursday, then bounced right back against Samueli Academy on Friday. Western Christian was the clear victor by a 7-0 margin over Samueli Academy. The Fighting Lancers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by three goals or more this season.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Pacifica Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Fairmont Prep by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Tritons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 340th, while the Huskies are ranked 109th).

Western Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 37 goals over those ten contests. As for Pacifica Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7-2.

Western Christian beat Pacifica Christian by a goal when the teams last played two weeks ago, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Western Christian since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
