Basketball Recap: Gateway Gators vs. Quaker Valley Quakers
Gateway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 26th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 47-18 loss at the hands of the Quaker Valley Quakers. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 641st, while the Quakers are ranked 294th).
It was another big night for Oumou Thiero, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 19 rebounds for Quaker Valley. That makes it 13 consecutive games in which Thiero has scored at least a third of Quaker Valley's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leasia Karto, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine boards.
Gateway's defeat dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Quaker Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.
