Baseball Recap: Dougherty Takes a Loss

Dougherty lost against Southwest DeKalb back in April of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Trojans lost 19-7 to the Panthers. The Trojans just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Kameron Knighton and Courtney Love stepped up to the plate in a big way. Knighton went 3-for-4 with two RBI, while Love scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Dougherty's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Southwest DeKalb, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Dougherty will welcome Sherwood Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Southwest DeKalb, they will host Marist at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The War Eagles will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
