It was a proper cat-fight when St. Mary challenged Winside on Thursday. The St. Mary's Cardinals really took it to the Winside Wildcats for the full four quarters, racking up a 75-18 victory. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 21 points or more this season.

St. Mary's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Max Berg led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 boards. Those 11 rebounds gave Berg a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Drake Berg, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 14 points and five boards.

St. Mary's smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Winside's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Offner, who posted eight points and five rebounds. That was a full 44.4% of Winside's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.

St. Mary's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Winside, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

St. Mary's will square off against Creighton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in St. Mary's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight contests. Winside has already played their next game, a 72-22 loss against Wausa on the 24th.
