Centura extended their winning streak to eight on Friday, bumping them up to 22-7. They were the clear victors by a 13-5 margin over the Malcolm Clippers. The Centurions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.
Calleigh Sundberg made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up five earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.
In other batting news, Centura got a massive performance out of Lauren Suntych, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Suntych has posted since back in September. Another player making a difference was Naudia Hruby, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Centura always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Malcolm only posted an OBP of .280.
As for Malcolm, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 14-14. As for they, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-14.
On Malcolm's side, Jordan Small and Morgan Tiedeman did some serious damage despite the final result: Small went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI, while Tiedeman went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
