Baseball Recap: Franklin County Comes Up Short

After soaring to 14 runs the game before, Franklin County was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks. The loss continues a trend for the Seahawks in their meetings with the Tiger Sharks: they've now lost three in a row.

Franklin County got a good showing from Gabe Kelly, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Kelly posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Franklin County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sadiq Jones, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Jones has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Franklin County's defeat dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Port St. Joe, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin County will host Wakulla Christian School at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Franklin County's pitchers better be ready for this one: Wakulla Christian School has averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Port St. Joe, they will welcome Brookstone at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Brookstone's pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so Port St. Joe's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
