Brea Olinda piles up the points against Foothill

The Brea Olinda Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to Foothill for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-44 victory at home. The victory was some much needed relief for Brea Olinda as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Maya Sanborn was the offensive standout of the game as she scored 17 points. Penelope Martinez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Foothill's loss came despite strong showings from Elize McAveney and Paige Bak. McAveney scored 19 points along with three steals, while Bak scored 12 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bak has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jay Perez, who scored three points along with 14 rebounds.

Brea Olinda's win bumped their record up to 8-16. As for Foothill, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brea Olinda will face off against El Dorado at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. El Dorado presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Brea Olinda in California (El Dorado is ranked 77th, while Brea Olinda is ranked 342nd). As for Foothill, they will head out on the road to square off against Esperanza at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Esperanza will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive.
