Football Recap: John Champe Falls Despite Big Games from Tyler Kann and Cole Fitzgerald + How To Watch

After soaring to 41 points the game before, John Champe was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They took a 13-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Briar Woods Falcons. The Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Falcons apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

John Champe's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cole Fitzgerald, who gained 101 total yards and a touchdown, and Tyler Kann, who picked up 127 receiving yards. Fitzgerald also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making one tackle and defending three passes. Dominic Plush was another key player, having thrown for 275 yards.

John Champe's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-3. As for Briar Woods, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

John Champe and Briar Woods will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Knights will take on rival Riverside at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Briar Woods is set to challenge their familiar foe Freedom at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
