Southern Boone proved they can win big on Saturday (they won by 12) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Fatima Comets 8-7. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.
Abby Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits.
On the hitting side, Lilee Woods was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Center, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Southern Boone's win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Looking ahead, Southern Boone will challenge Eldon at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fatima, they will take on Union at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
