Preview: Westmont vs. Prospect
The Westmont Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Prospect Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Westmont had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 goals), and they went ahead and made it eight on Wednesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Santa Teresa a 8-0 shutout. It was an even better day for Kiarra D'Arcangelo as she scored three goals for her team.
Meanwhile, Prospect got the win against James Lick on Wednesday by a conclusive 4-0. The win made it back-to-back wins for Prospect.
Westmont pushed their record up to 14-2-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 31 goals over those six matches. As for Prospect, they now have a winning record of 9-8-2.
Westmont took their win against Prospect when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westmont since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
