Soccer Recap: Yreka Comes Up Short

Yreka lost against University Prep back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Yreka Miners fell just short of the University Prep Panthers by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Miners can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 996th, while the Panthers are ranked 495th).

Yreka's goal came courtesy of Dessa Whipple, who's now up to eight this season.

Yreka's loss dropped their record down to 5-12. As for University Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 14-4 record this season.

Yreka has already played their next matchup, a 0-0 draw against West Valley on the 12th. As for University Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next contest, a 4-0 win against Lassen on the 12th.
