Soccer Game Preview: Poly vs. Monroe

The Poly Parrots will head out to challenge the Monroe Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

Poly will bounce into Wednesday's matchup after beating North Hollywood, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Parrots had just enough and edged out the Huskies 3-2. The win was all the more spectacular given Poly's disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 869th, while North Hollywood are ranked 182nd).

Valerie Aguilera and Mia Banuelos scored all three of Poly's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 13 goals.

Meanwhile, Monroe kept a clean sheet against Arleta on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Mustangs, sneaking past 1-0. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Monroe as it put an end to their three-match losing streak.

Poly's record is now 4-5-3. As for Monroe, they picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-6-2.

Everything went Poly's way against Monroe when the teams last played back in December of 2025, as Poly made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Parrots since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
