Football Game Preview: Piper Pirates vs. Turner Golden Bears + How To Watch

Piper is a perfect 6-0 against Turner since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Pirates are taking a road trip to challenge the Golden Bears at 7:00 p.m. Piper will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

Piper took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Lansing 44-13. The Pirates' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Roman Byers had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 199 yards and four touchdowns on only 14 carries, while also picking up 56 receiving yards and one TD. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 107 rushing yards per game.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Piper proved: they limited Lansing to a paltry 3.2 yards per carry. The Pirates didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.9.

Meanwhile, Turner ended up a good deal behind West on Friday and lost 42-27. The Golden Bears have struggled against the Chargers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Turner's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Piper, with the victory, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-4.

Everything came up roses for Piper against Turner in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 51-16 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
