Softball Recap: Raytown Wins Going Away Against Ruskin

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contest, Raytown brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. Everything went their way against the Ruskin Golden Eagles on Thursday as they made off with a 14-4 victory. The Bluejays haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Jazlynne Farmer was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Farmer was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Savannah Young was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Charisma DeWitt, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.

Raytown's victory bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Ruskin, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Raytown will be playing at home against Truman at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bluejays' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season. As for Ruskin, they will head out to take on Fort Osage at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
