Recap: Pioneer Valley Panthers vs. Santa Ynez Pirates
The Pioneer Valley Panthers lost against the Santa Ynez Pirates back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Pioneer Valley took a hard 45-30 fall against Santa Ynez. While losing is never fun, Pioneer Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 710th, while Santa Ynez is ranked 320th).
Leading Santa Ynez to victory were Kylie Lapointe and Kayla Morrell. Lapointe scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Morrell scored 13 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Morrell has scored all season. Rylan Agin was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Pioneer Valley's loss dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Santa Ynez, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 17-6.
Pioneer Valley will be playing at home against Atascadero at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Atascadero is coming into the match with three straight defeats on the road, meaning Pioneer Valley will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. Santa Ynez does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
