Baseball Recap: Little Falls Mounties vs. South Lewis Falcons
Little Falls extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 9-6. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Lewis Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-2 last Saturday.
James Milianta put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Milianta wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Giovanni Almaviva, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Austin Crews also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
As for South Lewis, the win (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 14-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games.
On South Lewis' side, Conner Carpenter was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Looking ahead, Little Falls will square off against Adirondack at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for South Lewis, they will take on Watertown at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
