Basketball Recap: Charli Calas' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Linfield Christian over Arrowhead Christian

Linfield Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the Arrowhead Christian Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 66-48 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Linfield Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Charli Calas, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 boards. Calas has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 16 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Caden Johnson, who posted 18 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists.

Even though they lost, Linfield Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 19 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Linfield Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Arrowhead Christian, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5.

Linfield Christian will square off against Aquinas at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Linfield Christian is facing Aquinas at the right time seeing as Aquinas is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Arrowhead Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodcrest Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
