Softball Recap: Bixby Starts Season with Win Against Sapulpa

Bixby gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Sapulpa Chieftains. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Chieftains recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Bixby got a great performance from Addison Shannon as she tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mikaylah Doran, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Emme Friedrichsen, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Bixby kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sapulpa only managed four hits.

Sapulpa's defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bixby will square off against Oologah at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Sapulpa, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Union at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
