Basketball Recap: Minarets Mustangs vs. Fresno Christian Eagles

The Minarets Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 49-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fresno Christian. Minarets has struggled against the Eagles recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Minarets' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Savannah Garabedian, who scored nine points along with two steals and two blocks. Another player making a difference was Caitlyn Videgain, who scored eight points along with two steals.

Fresno Christian found their leader in underclassman Sarah Guglielmana, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Guglielmana has scored at least a third of Fresno Christian's points. Marisol Martinez was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.

Minarets dropped their record down to 2-11 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 18.7 points per game. As for Fresno Christian, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-17.
