Football Recap: Coon Rapids Comes Up Short

Coon Rapids lost against Andover back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Cardinals were dealt a 55-14 loss at the hands of the Huskies. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota football rankings (they are ranked 193rd, while the Huskies are ranked 18th).

Joseph Mapson had an outrageously good game for Andover as he rushed for 68 yards and three scores, and also threw for 95 yards and one TD while completing 75% of his passes. Mapson has been hot, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last seven times he's played. Collin Gravink was another key player, rushing for 81 yards and one touchdown.

Coon Rapids' defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Andover, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Coming up, Coon Rapids will host Blaine at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Andover, they will square off against Centennial at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
