Basketball Recap: Williams Takes a Loss

Williams was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 20th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 48-20 loss at the hands of the Rio Vista Rams.

Despite the loss, Williams still got an impressive performance from Lupita Zuniga, who posted 11 points. Another player making a difference was Jennifer Vega Jimenez, who had five points and five rebounds.

It was another big night for Samiah Holley, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 steals for Rio Vista. Holley is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Guadalupe Valdenegro, who dropped a double-double on 13 boards and ten steals.

Williams' defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Rio Vista, their victory bumped their record up to 4-7.

Williams and Winters will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Rio Vista, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-32 win against Live Oak on the 14th.
