For the second straight game, Alchesay will face off against Snowflake. The Falcons will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Lobos at 6:00 p.m.
Alchesay is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Snowflake on Tuesday. They lost 11-2 to the Lobos. The Falcons have struggled against the Lobos recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
For Snowflake's part, Jaxon Merrill made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Merrill has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Tate Matthews and Kasen Rogers did most of the damage at the plate: Matthews went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Rogers went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Matthews has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kyler Matthews, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Snowflake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Alchesay only managed seven.
Alchesay's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Snowflake, their win bumped their record up to 11-7-1.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Alchesay hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .333. However, it's not like Snowflake struggles in that department as they've averaged .352. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
