Basketball Game Preview: Oakland Tech Bulldogs vs. Mater Dei Monarchs

The Oakland Tech Bulldogs and the Mater Dei Monarchs will round out the year against one another at at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Mater Dei is hoping to do what McNair couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Oakland Tech's winning streak, which now stands at five games. Oakland Tech took their contest with ease, bagging a 77-41 win over McNair. The Bulldogs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

It was another big night for Jhai Johnson, who posted 42 points. Another player making a difference was Terri'A Russell, who had 22 points.

Meanwhile, Mater Dei is ranked highly in their home state and on Saturday they took on another highly ranked team in the form of Bullis. Mater Dei strolled past Bullis with points to spare, taking the game 72-57.

Mater Dei's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Oakland Tech, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Oakland Tech took a serious blow against Mater Dei when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 76-46. Can Oakland Tech avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
