Recap: Merced Bears vs. Patterson Tigers
The Merced Bears lost against the Patterson Tigers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Merced fell 56-49 to Patterson. Merced has struggled against Patterson recently, as their matchup on Monday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Merced's loss came despite strong showings from Averie Steverson and Aryanna Giddens. Steverson dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds, while Giddens scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Giddens has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Davis, who scored five points along with six assists.
Patterson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Daneilla Garcia, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Taylor Mason, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Merced's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Patterson, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 24-2.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Buhach Colony the next time they take the court. Patterson will head out to face Buhach Colony at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Merced will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
