Baseball Recap: Brandywine Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tower Hill, Brandywine was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the St. Andrew's Cardinals. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won three in a row.

Andrew Sullinger tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Brandywine is 5-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Brandywine's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Manny Martinez-Guzman, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Brandywine's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for St. Andrew's, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season.

Brandywine will challenge MOT Charter at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last. St. Andrew's does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
