Football Recap: Mt. Zion Bulldogs vs. Jonesboro Cardinals
Mt. Zion lost against Jonesboro back in October of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Mt. Zion Bulldogs took a 19-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jonesboro Cardinals.
Despite the loss, Mt. Zion still got an impressive performance from Makayla Juhan, who picked up 95 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Mt. Zion didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Zion Moore and Raniya Rainey.
Jonesboro found their leader in sophomore Brianna Mason, who rushed for 65 yards and a touchdown on only five carries, and also threw for 145 yards and a touchdown on only 11 passes. Norahja Cole made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Mt. Zion's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Jonesboro, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Mt. Zion does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Jonesboro, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 26-12 win against Mays on the 20th.
