Baseball Game Preview: Walnut Grove Warriors vs. North Oconee Titans

The Walnut Grove Warriors will square off against the North Oconee Titans at 5:55 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

North Oconee will be up against a hot Walnut Grove team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Walnut Grove's pitchers stepped up to hand Eastside a 10-0 shutout on Friday.

Jarrod Cook made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over 5.1 innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Branson Blalock was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted over his last 11 games. Brayden Kelly was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Walnut Grove kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastside only managed five hits.

Meanwhile, North Oconee had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. Everything went their way against the Red Raiders as they made off with a 7-1 victory.

North Oconee pushed their record up to 12-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Walnut Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.
