Basketball Game Preview: Grossmont Foothillers vs. Imperial Tigers

The Grossmont Foothillers will challenge the Imperial Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Grossmont will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

Grossmont will bounce into Friday's match after beating Scripps Ranch, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. Everything went Grossmont's way against Scripps Ranch last Monday as Grossmont made off with a 60-34 victory. The Foothillers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 25 points or more this season.

Grossmont relied on the efforts of Aakash Price, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 boards, and Jaliyah Fleming, who went 7 of 10 from beyond the arc on her way to 23 points. Price is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: she's pulled down at least nine every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Esther Agoh, who posted five points and 11 rebounds.

Grossmont smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in November of 2023.

Meanwhile, Imperial strolled past Hesperia with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 47-29. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while the Scorpions are ranked 518th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Grossmont's record is now 12-1. As for Imperial, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.

Grossmont came up short against Imperial when the teams last played back in January of 2022, falling 45-37. Thankfully for Grossmont, Sierra Morris (who almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
